The Place
inkjet print, 30" x 60", 2015
This summer vacation home was built by the client's grandfather and has been a summer oasis for four generations. The memoryscape includes images from each generation and incorporates the home's views of the blue ridge mountains and remarkable sunsets. Features of the property that hold sentimental value for the family are also highlighted including a single slab stone table, hand-built knuckle ball table, and age-old trumpet vines.
Valdese Ave.
inkjet print, 30" x 60", 2014
This memoryscape features one family's historic home that has served as the backdrop for the raising of a large, close-knit family for over 25 years. Iconic images of some of the home's notable characteristics such as a boxwood-lined brick walkway are combined with smaller details like a custom playhouse and various family pets to create a cohesive, yet intricate, depiction of this family's house. Old family portraits were used to incorporate each individual family member.
Rabbit Patch #1
inkjet print, 30" x 60", 2014
This is one of two variations on a large plot of land that has been in one family for three generations now. Acquired and cultivated by the patriarch, who is featured in the landscape with his wife, this place has been the setting for years of farming and family gatherings that are commemorated in numerous details throughout the landscape.
Rabbit Patch #2
inkjet print, 30" x 60", 2014
This is the second, slightly more abstract version of a memoryscape showcasing a plot of land that has been in one family for three generations now. The same image of the patriarch and his wife is highlighted, however, the surrounding landscape is a blend of fall and spring scenery, producing a more fragmented look.
Wyoming Summer
inkjet print, 34" x 45", 2013
This landscape combines snapshots and panoramic views of one family's favorite vacation shot in Wyoming, frequented both in the summer and winter (see next image for winter version). It aims to showcase the incredible landscape without losing the smaller details of individual experiences.
Wyoming Winter
inkjet print, 34" x 45", 2013
This is a winter version of the memoryscape portraying a family's favorite vacation spot in Wyoming. It illustrates the dramatic winter landscape integrated with snapshots from family trips.
Tate St.
inkjet print, 40" x 55", 2012
This slightly more abstract memoryscape employs the use of a wider variety of media, including paper collage and black and white negatives. It captures the spirit of the young, growing family whose experiences are immersed in panoramic mountain views, rolling green lawns, and lush gardens.
